It’s been great pleasure to finally discover that Greece contemporary art exists. Indeed, between 16th – 19th of September 2022 on the occasion of the International Contemporary Art Fair of Athens, which took place at Zappeion Mansion next to the Royal Garden, many Greek artists were showing off their talent and passion through creativity and innovation. Actually, I did also recognise a few original and inspired international artists met and appreciated in London art festivals.
Art Athina’s exhibition organised by the Hellenic Art Galleries Association with the effective supervision of Artistic Director Stamatia Dimitrakopoulos, presented more than eighty galleries’ artists and carried out – both established and brand new – projects, notable among which were the Art Athina Artist Residency Program that hosted in Athens a few international artists for thirty days, and the new Art Athina Award which was won by Artist Giorgos Gerontides, who will hold a solo exhibition at MOMus-Museum Alex Mylonas in Athens next year.
